About these pods

Our pods are hand collected from Florida coastal waters and packed fresh for each order. Each portion contains over 100 live pods. Amphipods make up most of each batch, and a batch may also include some copepods and isopods, and occasionally skeleton shrimp, baby crabs, tiny shrimp or small sand worms. All are reef safe and not parasitic.

Most of these tiny critters eat detritus and micro algae, so they help keep your tank clean. They are also a great live food for mandarins, seahorses and other reef fish and inverts. Bulk portions are a good way to seed a new aquarium or refugium, or to boost an existing pod population.

On arrival

Pods ship in small bags. Many pods may be clinging to the knotted area at the top of the bag when they arrive. Float the bag to match temperature, then gently release the pods into your main tank or refugium. Rinse the knot area into the tank so you do not leave pods behind.
