Our story

A family aquatics business that takes livestock seriously

Ghost Shrimp Co. is run by a Florida family that has kept freshwater tanks for two decades. We started because ordering live shrimp online was a coin flip — bags packed too tight, no insulation, no answer when something died. We built the company we wished existed.

Responsible sourcing and cultivation

Our stock comes from managed culture systems and permitted, seasonally rotated collection — never a single pond stripped bare. Collection sites are rested, and cultured stock now covers the majority of our volume so wild pressure keeps dropping year over year.

A week of conditioning before anything ships

New stock enters a quarantine and conditioning system for a minimum of seven days at low density. They are fed a rotating diet, watched for molting problems and lethargy, and anything that looks off is pulled long before it reaches an order.

Care right up to the moment they leave

Shrimp are fasted briefly before packing so the bag stays clean in transit, then hand-counted twice, bagged at low density with cover material, and boxed with the right thermal pack for the forecast on both ends of the route.

Honest customer service

If a box goes wrong, we fix it. No restocking fees, no arguing over a photo, no pretending a carrier delay is your fault. We would rather lose the margin on one order than the relationship.

The long view

Ghost shrimp are where we started, not where we stop. Snails, aquarium plants, blackworms, daphnia, scuds and the supplies that go with them are all in the pipeline — handled to the same standard, shipped from the same bench.
